About this fishWhat do these mean?
Overview
The Orchid Dottyback is a small, deep purple fish with a fine dark stripe through the eye, prized for its vivid, uniform colour and general hardiness. It's a peaceful alternative to some of the more common but more aggressive dottyback species, making it a popular choice for reef keepers wanting bold colour without excessive territorial behaviour.
It's an easy, confident feeder once settled, adapting well to a wide range of tank sizes and generally causing fewer aggression issues than many other Pseudochromis species.
Its small size, striking colour, and comparatively calm temperament make it a great addition to a nano or small reef tank.
Compatibility
Orchid Dottybacks are less aggressive than many other dottybacks, though they can still show some territoriality toward similarly shaped small fish in a smaller tank. They generally coexist well with a wide range of peaceful to semi-aggressive community fish.
They are fully reef safe and won't bother corals, clams, or invertebrates.
Health & quarantine
This is a hardy, adaptable species with few chronic health issues, generally acclimating and feeding well without major complications. A standard quarantine period of two to four weeks is recommended good practice, and this species typically ships and settles in with minimal stress.
