Rock Flower Anemone

Overview
The Rock Flower Anemone is a colourful, compact anemone that stays anchored to a rock rather than roaming the tank, making it a popular and relatively easy-going choice for reef keepers.
Its vivid colour combinations and manageable size make it a great feature piece for a lower area of the display without the placement uncertainty that comes with more mobile anemone species.
Role in the tank
Unlike clean-up crew invertebrates, this anemone isn't there to eat detritus or algae — its role is purely as a striking, relatively low-maintenance display piece that adds colour and movement low in the tank.
Care
Drip-acclimate slowly, as with any invertebrate, since anemones are sensitive to sudden shifts in salinity and other water parameters. A mature, stable tank gives it the best chance of settling in and staying put.
Compatibility
Generally peaceful and less likely to relocate than bubble tip or carpet anemones.
- Reef safe with most fish and corals, provided it isn't crowded
- Keep a reasonable distance from corals it could sting if it does move
Care tips
- Drip-acclimate over an extended period rather than a quick float-and-release
- Place on a stable rock surface with a crevice to anchor its base
- Feed occasionally with small meaty foods to support colour and health
- Keep water parameters stable, as with any anemone
