The body is split between white and dark brown to black, with each fin accented in yellow or red. Known for being hardy, this species makes a great addition to a newly-established tank. The Magnificent Foxface can be housed in an aquarium of 450 litres or larger. Though generally peaceful, it may become aggressive towards other rabbitfish. Its venomous dorsal spines typically deter predators. When well-fed, it is considered mostly reef-safe, though it may nip at some LPS and soft corals if underfed. The diet of the Magnificent Foxface should include fresh vegetables and various types of algae. Be aware that this fish might also nibble on soft and hard coral polyps.
