Size: 10 cm Family: Cirrhitidae Minimum Tank Size: 100 litres Overview The Flame Hawkfish, also called the Brilliant Hawkfish, is known for its bright red body with dark markings along the dorsal fin and around the eyes. It has a personable character and can be a great addition to reef aquariums, though care should be taken to avoid housing it with small shrimp, as it may prey on them. A 100-litre or larger aquarium is necessary, providing plenty of live rock for structure and hiding spots. The Flame Hawkfish is generally peaceful but can pose a risk to smaller bottom-dwelling gobies and blennies. This fish often spends its time perched on rocks, waiting for food to pass by. The Flame Hawkfish diet should include a variety of marine meats and frozen preparations.
