It also features a light tan spot behind the eye, adding to its visual appeal. This angelfish requires a tank of at least 450 litres, ideally with plenty of hiding places, as it can be quite shy when first introduced. It is best housed as the only angelfish in the tank due to its semi-aggressive nature. The Flagfin Angelfish is not reef-safe and may nip at sessile invertebrates, such as soft and stony corals, and clam mantles. Due to its specific dietary needs, the Flagfin Angelfish is challenging to maintain. It requires a diet rich in sponges and has difficulty adapting to alternative foods. Experienced aquarists can provide a varied diet including sponge-enriched frozen angelfish rations, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and a variety of plant material. Additionally, live rock is essential for grazing and providing hiding spots.
