It has a yellow body with a vibrant purple stripe running along the dorsal fin, making it a standout addition to reef aquariums. Due to its aggressive nature, the Purple Stripe Dottyback should be housed in an aquarium of at least 115 litres (30 gallons) with plenty of hiding places such as rocks and caves. It is best kept with moderately aggressive fish larger than itself to avoid territorial conflicts. While this fish is reef-compatible, it may prey on ornamental shrimp, so caution should be taken when adding shrimp to its environment. The diet of the Purple Stripe Dottyback should include a variety of meaty foods such as brine shrimp and prepared frozen foods to keep it healthy and vibrant.
