It also has distinctive large peduncle spines. A 946-litre or larger aquarium is essential to provide the Clown Tang with ample swimming space. It requires clean, well-oxygenated water and can be aggressive toward other tangs, surgeonfish, or fish with similar body shapes and feeding habits. While they will consume meaty foods like other fish in the tank, their diet must include ample amounts of marine-based seaweed and algae. This helps strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression, and promote overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or using a veggie clip, and feed it at least three times per week. Products such as Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad, and Ocean Nutrition are ideal for this species and easy to use.
