Size: 7.6 cm Family: Ocellaris Minimum Tank Size: 75 litres Overview: The Captive-Bred Black Storm Clownfish is a striking designer clownfish known for its unique appearance, which results from selective breeding and a mutation. It features a dramatic white body pattern with an almost entirely white face and black eyes. The distinctive "panda pattern" is highlighted by intricate black markings, making each fish one-of-a-kind. Captive-bred Black Storm Clownfish are typically shipped as juveniles. This clownfish thrives in an aquarium of at least 75 litres, with ample live rock for hiding and exploration. It may form a symbiotic relationship with certain anemones, such as Carpet (Stichodactyla sp.), Sebae (Heteractis crispa), Bulb (Entacmaea quadricolor), or Ritteri (Heteractis magnifica). Although an anemone is not essential for its well-being, if you choose to add one, ensure that your tank and lighting meet the anemone’s needs. Captive-bred clownfish, including the Black Storm Clownfish, are generally hardier and more adaptable to home aquarium conditions compared to their wild-caught counterparts. This makes them an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists. They can be kept with other captive-bred clownfish, provided they are introduced simultaneously. Breeding the Black Storm Clownfish in a home aquarium is relatively straightforward. The female, being larger, will lay eggs on a flat surface or near the base of an anemone and will guard them diligently. Eggs typically hatch within 6-11 days, depending on temperature. The fry should be raised in a separate tank with a diet of rotifers and eventually baby brine shrimp. The Black Storm Clownfish is an omnivore and should be fed a varied diet, including high-quality marine flake food rich in spirulina algae, as well as freeze-dried and frozen foods.
