Overview

The Orange Peel Angel is a bold, deep orange dwarf angelfish marked with several dark vertical bars, giving it a rich, saturated appearance distinct from many other Centropyge species. It's a lesser-seen but visually striking pygmy angel well suited to a manageable reef tank size.

It shares the general care needs of the wider dwarf angel group, doing best with established rockwork, a varied diet, and enough space to establish a territory without constant conflict.

Its confident colouration and reasonably hardy nature make it a good option for keepers wanting a bold, less commonly seen dwarf angel.

Compatibility

Orange Peel Angels can be territorial toward other dwarf angels, particularly similarly shaped or coloured species, and are best kept as the only pygmy angel in small to medium tanks. They're generally peaceful with unrelated community fish, wrasses, and gobies.

Most individuals leave stony coral alone, but some will pick at LPS, zoanthids, or clam mantles, so this species is rated reef safe with caution.

Health & quarantine

Standard dwarf angel quarantine protocols apply: a minimum of four weeks with close observation for ich or velvet symptoms, and confirmation the fish is eating well before considering it settled. Once established, this species is reasonably resilient and generally transitions onto a full diet without excessive fussiness.
