Overview
The Frogspawn Coral, scientifically known as Euphyllia divisa, is a large-polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its unique tentacle structure. The tentacles form bubble or frog-egg-like tips, giving it its name. Originating from the Indo-Pacific, Frogspawn Coral is highly sought after for its vivid colours, often ranging from green to pink and tan to purple, and its eye-catching, flowing tentacles that add dynamic movement to the reef tank.Behaviour and Placement

With semi-aggressive tendencies, Frogspawn Coral uses its sweeper tentacles to defend its space, so it’s best placed with sufficient distance from other corals to avoid potential stings. Ideal placement is on the bottom to the middle of the tank, where it can benefit from moderate light and flow, which allow its tentacles to sway gently without overstimulation.

Feeding

Frogspawn Coral benefits from both photosynthesis and target feeding. Occasional supplementation with small, meaty foods like mysis shrimp or brine shrimp, provided once or twice weekly, supports growth and maintains its vibrant appearance.

Care Tips
  • Ensure stable water conditions and gentle water movement to prevent stress.
  • Provide moderate lighting to support photosynthesis without excessive exposure.
  • Allow space between Frogspawn Coral and neighbouring corals to prevent stinging.

Compatibility

This coral is reef-safe and can coexist well with other peaceful or semi-aggressive corals. However, due to its extended sweeper tentacles, it should be kept at a safe distance from more sensitive corals. Frogspawn Coral is a perfect choice for mixed reef aquariums, where its movement and vivid colours enhance the visual appeal of the tank.

Final Thoughts

Frogspawn Coral is an excellent option for aquarists looking to add beauty and movement to their reef tanks. With moderate care requirements and a relatively hardy nature, it’s a rewarding coral that brings colour and a lively aesthetic to any aquarium.
