Overview

Herbivorous marine fish like tangs, rabbitfish and blennies need a genuinely high proportion of plant matter in their diet, and it's not always practical to keep fresh nori on hand every day. Mega Marine Algae 100g from Hikari is a frozen food built specifically around this need, blending sea algae and marine proteins into an easy-to-feed formula.

Each cube is packed in freshwater rather than saltwater, helping fish complete the osmotic process using less energy during digestion.

Key features
  • High proportion of sea algae, spirulina and vegetable matter suited to marine herbivores
  • Packed in freshwater to help fish handle osmotic regulation more efficiently
  • Three-stage sterilisation process for a clean, low-mess, low-odour product
  • Convenient "no touch" cube packaging for easy, measured feeding
Who it's for

Suited to tangs, rabbitfish, blennies and other marine fish that need a genuinely high proportion of algae and plant matter alongside their protein intake.

Setup & tips
  • Feed only what fish will consume within about a minute, multiple times a day rather than one large feed
  • Remove any uneaten food promptly to avoid water quality issues
  • Rotate with other foods for a well-rounded diet rather than feeding exclusively
  • Keep frozen between feeds and use within a reasonable timeframe once opened
