Overview

Smaller tanks and nano setups still need genuine mechanical and biological filtration, but a full-size canister filter is often overkill. The Maxi 101F Internal Filter from Aqua One is a compact, fully submersible internal filter built to handle exactly this scale, combining foam-based filtration with a built-in venturi for extra aeration.

It's a straightforward, reliable option for anyone needing dependable everyday filtration without a large footprint.

Key features
  • Rated for aquariums up to approximately 55 litres, with a flow rate of around 300–400 litres per hour
  • Provides mechanical and biological filtration through high-quality foam media
  • Built-in venturi aeration nozzle improves oxygenation
  • Multiple outlet options allow flexible flow direction
  • Fully submersible with a low power draw of around 4.2W
  • Includes suction cups for secure mounting inside the tank
Who it's for

Suited to smaller marine or freshwater aquariums up to around 55 litres, either as a primary filter or as supplementary filtration and circulation alongside an existing setup.

Setup & tips
  • Position fully submerged and clear of the substrate, following the flow direction arrows on the unit
  • Clean the impeller regularly, at least once a month, to maintain performance
  • Rinse the foam media in tank water rather than tap water to preserve beneficial bacteria
  • Adjust the outlet direction to suit your tank's flow needs, using the venturi nozzle for extra surface agitation if needed
