Overview
A noisy, inefficient return pump is one of those problems that becomes background noise until you experience a genuinely quiet one — at which point it's hard to go back. The Great White Return Pump 6000LPH is built around the same internals as the popular Great White DC skimmer, repurposed into a fully controllable, whisper-quiet return pump for larger mid-sized systems.
With DC control and multiple flow settings, it gives you precise control over return flow while running at a genuinely low energy draw.
Key features
- 20 flow settings for precise control over pump speed
- Multiple mode settings including constant, pulse, gyre and feed modes
- Detachable DC controller with waterproof union connection, suited to cabinet-door mounting
- Integrated memory retains your programming through power outages
- Feed mode pauses the pump for 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes to make feeding easier
- Submersible design, suitable as a return, closed-loop, or reactor/filter pump
- Extremely quiet operation, rated at well under 25 decibels
Who it's for
Larger mid-sized reef systems that need solid return flow with genuine noise control and the flexibility of DC speed adjustment.
Setup & tips
- Mount the detachable controller on the cabinet door for easy access to flow settings and feed mode
- Use feed mode during feeding time to reduce flow and let food linger for fish and corals
- Check the impeller periodically for snails or debris, and inspect seals and O-rings for wear
- Reassemble with aquarium-safe silicone grease on the O-rings and ensure the bottom bushell is correctly seated on the impeller after cleaning
