Fungia Corals are solitary and peaceful corals that prefer sandy substrates or low rock ledges. They inflate their tissues to expand and display vibrant colours during the day. These corals can move slightly to adjust their position in response to light and flow, often using their water-inflated tissues to push themselves away from obstacles.
In the wild, they are commonly found in sandy lagoons or reef slopes, where they thrive in low to moderate water flow.
Tank Requirements
- Lighting: Moderate to strong lighting. LED or T5 fixtures are ideal, but avoid overexposure to intense light.
- Water Flow: Low to moderate to prevent tissue damage.
- Placement: Best placed on a sandy substrate to allow natural movement. Avoid placing them near sharp or rough surfaces that could harm their delicate tissues.
Diet
Fungia Corals are primarily photosynthetic but benefit from occasional feeding to supplement their energy needs.
