Overview
A small but genuinely useful plumbing fitting - this Sanking cap lets you seal off the end of a pipe or fitting cleanly, whether you're capping an unused port, sealing a test run, or finishing off a custom plumbing layout.
At a couple of dollars, it's the kind of part worth having a few spares of in the workshop.
Key features
- PVC cap for sealing pipe ends or unused fitting ports
- Corrosion-resistant, suited to both fresh and saltwater use
- Simple push-fit or solvent-weld design depending on connection type
Who it's for
Anyone plumbing a sump, reactor line, RO/DI system or general reef plumbing who needs to cleanly seal off a pipe end or spare port.
Setup & tips
- Use PVC cement appropriate for a permanent seal, or leave unglued if you may need to reopen the port later
- Keep a couple of spares on hand - they're cheap enough to always have ready for future plumbing tweaks
- Check the fit matches your pipe or fitting size exactly before gluing
- Label capped ports in more complex plumbing runs so you remember what's behind them later
