Reef fish graze more or less constantly, so one big daily feed doesn't suit them. The AFS spreads food across several small feeds a day, which means fish eat the lot instead of leaving it to break down and foul your water.

Damp, clumping food is the classic failure point for auto feeders. The AFS uses a motorised delivery arm that extends to feed and then retracts fully back into the housing, while a built-in gasket seals the hopper against tank humidity.
