Overview
AF Algae Feed S is a small-pellet food built around herbivorous grazers, with Tangs chief among them. Rather than a single algae source, it blends seven different algae varieties, giving fussy grazers the variety they'd naturally pick at on the reef, then rounds it out with phytoplankton, minerals and vitamins for a genuinely complete diet.
For fish that spend their day nibbling algae off rock, a diet too thin on fibre and greens shows up over time as poor colour, condition and resistance to disease. This smaller pellet size is formulated to close that gap while still being easy for smaller mouths and nano/mid-size fish to take.
Key features
- Seven algae varieties in one pellet, mimicking the natural grazing diet of herbivorous reef fish
- Fortified with phytoplankton for added nutritional depth
- Enriched with minerals and vitamins (including A, D3, E and C) to support immunity and healthy development
- Formulated as a complete, balanced diet suitable for feeding across mixed fish populations, not just algae grazers
- Smaller pellet size (S), ideal where fish or mouth size call for a finer feed
Who it's for
Any marine system with herbivorous grazers — Tangs in particular — will get the most out of this feed, and it's balanced enough to serve as a staple across a mixed reef community. The smaller pellet suits nano and smaller display tanks, or any setup with smaller-mouthed fish that struggle with larger pellet sizes.
Setup & tips
- Feed in small portions, several times a day rather than one large feed — this suits how grazers naturally eat and helps limit uneaten food fouling the water
- Only offer what your fish will clear in a couple of minutes; algae-based pellets can cloud water if overfed
- Great as part of a rotation alongside other foods to broaden the diet further
- Store the pellets somewhere cool and dry, and keep the tub sealed between feeds to protect the vitamin content
